Instructions
1) In celebration of Valentine's Day, students will design, bake, and decorate a cake for a loved one. You are expected to draw and submit a cake design for pre-approval to the instructor by 2/10/2009. Students will bake cakes on 2/12/2009 in class and decorate them on 2/13/2009. All ingredients and utensils will be provided by the instructor for student use during class and students are allowed to take their cakes home.
2) In celebration of Black History Month, students will be assigned an African country to study. Students are required to produce a report discussing the country's history, geography, culture, people, and cuisine. Students should also find a recipe that is representative of the country's typical cuisine. Selected recipes will be cooked in class as a group.
